In the fast-paced world of user experience (UX) design, two exceptional alumni have emerged as ambassadors of seeking your passions beyond traditional academic environments. Fatimah Alia, a former freelance artist and art instructor, and Amalin, a graduate in Cognitive Science with a passion for research, have taken their skills to new heights through the GA UX course. Let's delve into their unique journeys and see how they are making their mark in the ever-evolving realm of UX design.

Fatimah Alia: Bridging Artistic Expression and Critical Thinking

Before embarking on her UX design journey, Fatimah Alia had established herself as a freelance artist and art instructor. However, Fatimah Alia's insatiable curiosity and her desire to upskill herself led her to explore new avenues.

She recognized the growing demand for UX designers and realized that her research skills and artistic flair could be channeled into this field. With a passion for understanding user behavior and creating intuitive designs, she made the bold decision to transition into UX design. Combining her creativity with critical thinking, she was encouraged to discover UX complementing her background in both science and art.

Currently, Fatimah Alia is actively job hunting for a UX design position while continuing to undertake minor projects for her small art business. Her unique combination of artistic sensibility and critical thinking makes her a valuable asset in the UX design field. Fatimah Alia's dedication to bridging the gap between creativity and functionality ensures that her designs are not only visually appealing but also user-centric and intuitive.

Amalin: Merging Research and Analytical Thinking

Amalin's journey into UX design began during their degree in Cognitive Science, where she was first introduced to some UX practices. A passion for research and understanding the intricacies of user behavior fueled their desire to pursue a career in UX design.

After completing an internship as a UI/UX Design Intern at a marketing agency specializing in the FMCG industry, Amalin realized that there was a gap between her academic knowledge and industry requirements. This gap motivated her to seek further education and upskill themselves to expand domains.

Amalin enrolled in the GA UX course to enhance their skills and gain a deeper understanding of industry practices. Their analytical mindset and data-driven approach set them apart, as they thrive on interpreting data and executing design decisions based on user feedback. Amalin's ability to bridge the gap between theory and practice enables them to create designs that not only look aesthetically pleasing but also align with users' needs and expectations.

Currently, Amalin is enjoying her role as a UX designer for a digital arm of an insurance company. Her curiosity and passion for understanding how things work enable them to think from multiple perspectives, ensuring that their designs resonate with a wide range of users. Amalin's keen eye for detail and their ability to balance user preferences with industry best practices make them a valuable asset in the field of UX design.

The journeys of Fatimah Alia and Amalin highlight the diverse backgrounds and unique skills that contribute to the thriving field of UX design. Fatimah Alia's fusion of artistic expression and critical thinking brings a fresh perspective to user-centric designs, while Amalin's research-driven approach and analytical mindset ensure that their designs meet user expectations effectively.

As the field of UX design continues to evolve, these alumni serve as shining examples of how individuals from different backgrounds can thrive by embracing the power of UX. Fatimah Alia and Amalin are true trailblazers, shaping the future of UX design with their creative problem-solving skills, deep empathy for users, and data-driven mindsets.
